Soccer(6V6) Rules
6 v 6 soccer will be played on grass so please wear the appropriate footwear.
Unsportsmanlike conduct has penalties -judged by the ref
One center ref from another team (The team that plays next will ref)
22-minute halves for group stage games, 25 minute halves for playoff games.
Fouls/MisConduct: Yellow cards, Red cards
General:
Teams may call one one-minute timeout per half (when in possession of the ball, ball out of play).
There is no overtime, injury time or stoppage time. If a playoff game is tied it will go straight to penalties with the exception of the final which will have two 5 minute halves of overtime before penalties.
Teams are comprised of five outfield players and one goalkeeper.
The goalkeeper must wear a different color jersey than the outfield players.
There is no offsides.
No Gender Ratio
The out of state player rule will be waived this year but please try to make at least half of your team be from the community you are representing. Any exceptions need to be brought to the soccer coordinator beforehand in order to get the go ahead.
Minimum Team Count to start a match is 4 players. All matches will start ON-TIME.
Maximum Team Count 12 Players (If your community has a lot of players make multiple teams).
Substitutions
All substitutions are on the fly, this includes goalkeeping substitutions. Only Sub when the ball is not in play.
All substitutions must take place through the substitution zone in front of his team’s bench -- not at the half-way line.
Teams will switch benches (and ends) at the beginning of halftime, ensuring that all substitutions take place in the defensive half and not other the other teams’ half
Kicks:
A goal may be scored directly against the opponents from the kick-off. The ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves. Tapped balls are not in play – the ball must move.
If the ball goes out of play on the side it will be a throw in. All throw ins are indirect.
Corner Kicks: are direct. The ball must be placed directly on the corner arc and the kick must be taken within 4 seconds. If the kick is not taken within 4 seconds the restart becomes a goal clearance for the opposing team.
Free Kicks: may be indirect or direct. The ball must be stationary before the kick may be taken.
Penalty Kicks: are taken from the penalty spot and must be taken by a clearly identified kicker. Defenders may not be nearer to the ball than 16 feet and even or behind the ball when the kick is taken.
The Goalkeeper
They may wear long pants and/or other padding as deemed safe by the match referee.
May receive a kick-in directly.
May kick the ball directly over the halfway line.
May score directly with his/her feet during the run of play.
